2027 NZSS Football Boys Representative Teams

New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) Boys are selecting U16 and U19 representative teams to tour Australia April 2027 school holidays (11–20 April 2027). The teams will compete in international fixtures against:

  • Australian National Secondary Schools Representative teams
  • Australian Sports schools/regional representative sides (warm-up matches)

The estimated cost for the 9-day tour is *$6,000.   Selection Process Overview To be selected for the NZSS National Teams, players must go through a two-stage trial process:

Regional Trials – September/October 2026 Holidays.

Players will need to attend a one-day trial in either Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, or Christchurch. Based on these trials, coaches will select players for North and South Island representative teams. Dates and times below

  • Regional allocation is typically North/South of the Bombay Hills, but this may vary based on trialist locations.
  • Coaches will also observe players at school fixtures and national tournaments.


North vs South Trial Tournament – Auckland, 20–22 January 2027 (TBC)

​​​​​​​A 2–3 day mini-tournament between the North and South Representative teams at each age group.

  • Cost: $325 (excludes travel)* for players who need accommodation, food etc. $50* for those that do not/
  • From here, 16–18 players in each age group will be selected for the NZSS national touring teams.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have their school and academy’s (where applicable) permission to represent NZSS.
  • Students must be enrolled at a New Zealand school in 2027.
  • Players are expected to play in at least 50% of their school matches in 2027.
  • International students are eligible, provided they are enrolled at a New Zealand school.

2026 NZSS Football Boys Representative Teams

The NZSS Football's U16 and U19 Boys Representative Teams head off to Malaysia on Saturday 4 July.

During the tour, they will play five matches against a range of high-quality opposition, including professional club academies, regional sports schools, and the highlight fixture against the Malaysian National Football Academy.
